When Things Go Wrong
Rescues - Incidents - Repairs

This full day program will explore what to do when things go wrong on the water. Your instructors will lead you through a discussion of rescue theory, group and incident management, and risk assessment. Specific situations like hypothermia, hyperthermia and other water based hazards will be explored in detail. Your group will look at different types of safety gear like tow systems and throw bags, and will learn to use them safely and effectively. Your instructor will demonstrate some simple boat repair techniques, and give you the opportunity to try them as well.
This class will also cover several rescue and reentry techniques in detail, including all in rescues, bow rescues, paddle- put- across rescues, self rescues, and swimmer rescues.
